Quotes that Inspire Entrepreneurship and Creativity

An assortment of inspirational quotes that helped me find passion in entrepreneurship.

"Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it.  For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself.  Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it.  I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge.  Then you will live to see that in the long run - in the long run, I say! - success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think of it."

4 Embarrassing Interview Mistakes - How to Avoid

An embarrassing account of mistakes leading up to a horrifically failed interview, and what you can learn from it.

When you have an interview, no matter how big, you can never over prepare.  Don't learn this lesson the hard way - and if you're reading this, you won't!

My first interview with a Chicago tech startup lasted two minutes.  Here's why:
no last-minute research (internet outage ≠ legit excuse), arrived under dressed and nearly late, and failed to answer the first question.

The Joy of Entrepreneurship

Picture yourself standing before miles and miles of empty land, nothing but grass and dirt and stones. In your mind stands a castle - its highest tower disappearing into the clouds. At your feet you find a smooth stone the size of a brick, flat and level. Prying it from the dirt, you place the very first piece of a foundation. Soon, you are collecting stones from the nearby fields. When those run out, you make bricks from clay.  You invite friends to help, and their minds add to the complexity and grandness. You create a machine that forms the bricks, then one that lays them. You watch as your vision becomes physical, and where once stood emptiness, a castle stretches toward the sky.
